Is Buying Drugs Online Dangerous?

Home QA Is Buying Drugs Online Dangerous?

The ease of online shopping has totally transformed how we purchase things. We buy cars online, groceries online, and skincare online. We buy insurance online, secure mortgages, and buy just about everything from Amazon. You may think buying drugs online is a good idea, too. There are many dangers of buying drugs online.

There are a range of valid pharmaceutical companies that operate online. The non-authentic companies often look legitimate. They have a website that looks professional, yet the drugs they provide may be dangerous. The FDA has done research and some of the results were scary.

The primary problems with purchasing prescriptions online is that it’s difficult to know if you are getting the FDA approved medicine. Upon research, the FDA discovered one website that sold US citizens Haldol, an antipsychotic. They thought they had purchased Xanax, Lexapro, Ambian, or Ativan. They ended up hospitalized due to the effects of the Haldol.

Another consumer attempted to purchase a flu medicine. What they received after lab tests was a pill made of talc and acetaminophen. This clearly was not what they wanted and fortunately wasn’t a deadly combination. Without the oversight of the FDA, you have no idea what will be in the drugs you purchase online.

There are some signs you can look for to ensure an online pharmacy is legitimate.  One thing to look for is that it’s licensed. You can validate this on the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. Look to ensure it’s located in the United States. There should be a licensed pharmacist to answer questions and should require a prescription. If they offer to prescribe something without a doctor’s visit or from a questionnaire, those are red flags.

Buying illegal drugs online is equally, if not more, dangerous. The illusion of anonymity and safety with bitcoin purchases and cleaning your cookies can create the illusion of safety. More and more sting operations are being done with online drug deals. In addition to the risk of sending money to an anonymous source hoping they’ll send you pure, safe drugs, there is the very real risk of getting caught by law enforcement.

Buying drugs online comes with a wide range of risks. From ingesting household chemicals to different more potent drugs, you literally have no idea what you are putting into your body. If you are desperate enough to buy drugs online, you may be dealing with an addiction. When you are ready, help is available.
