A Full Continuum of Care at Design for Change Recovery

Substance use disorders are complex, involving many physical, mental, and emotional factors.  A person with SUD may also struggle with various environmental issues that contribute to their substance use.  At Design for Change, we recognize these underlying influences and their role in addiction.  Accordingly, our programs provide therapies and methodologies that can be personalized for each client.

Our full continuum of care incorporates evidence-based practices such as:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy
  • Psychodrama Therapy
  • Holistic Approaches to Treatment
  • BioSound Therapy
  • Music and Art Therapy
  • Experiential Therapy
  • Mindfulness and Meditation
  • Nutritional Guidance
  • Exercise and Fitness Activities
  • Faith-Based or Secular Programs
  • Dual-Diagnosis Programs
  • Family Therapy

In addition, we provide various services to assist clients and their families during this difficult time.  For instance, we are proud to offer the following:

Intervention Services

Design for Change Recovery understands how difficult it can be to take the first step toward getting treatment.  People with SUDs fear detox and withdrawals.  As a result, they resist going to rehab.  If you have a loved one who needs treatment, but won’t take the first step, we can help.

In a step-by-step approach, our intervention specialists work with families to plan and conduct the intervention.  The goal of our intervention services is to help your loved one agree to seek treatment as soon as possible.

On-Site Detoxification

Addiction treatment starts with our on-site detoxification process.  During detox, clients are monitored 24/7 to ensure their safety and comfort. We also provide medication-assisted treatment for individuals who require that level of support

Aftercare Programs

Our extended care or aftercare services help clients transition from treatment to the outside world.  We realize the uncertainty clients feel when facing daily life as sober individuals.  In many cases, the stress leads to relapse.  We help prevent relapse by providing ongoing guidance and support following graduation from our rehab.

Components of our aftercare programs include activities and resources to assist with life after rehab such as:

  • Sober living homes
  • Transition to outpatient programs
  • 12-Step or Self-Help meetings
  • Sponsors and other support systems
  • Group and individual counseling sessions
  • Alumni programs
  • Assistance with housing, employment, and other resources

Most importantly, our aftercare programs show clients that they are not all alone in this new experience.

First Responder Wellness Programs

America’s first responders are at high risk for stress and trauma as a result of their occupation.  Every day, they see disturbing accidents or must make sudden crucial decisions to save lives.  As a result, many of our first responders struggle with the following:

  • PTSD
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Anger
  • Violent outbursts
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Compassion fatigue
  • Psychological disorders
  • Relationship problems
  • Suicidal thoughts

Furthermore, many first responders struggle with substance use disorders because of their need to cope with the demands of their profession.  For this reason, Design for Change provides a First Responder Wellness program.  Our flexible program will be customized to meet each person’s unique needs.

Different Levels of Addiction Treatment at Design for Change

Above all else, Design for Change realizes no two people respond to treatment the same way.  We understand that each client has their own unique needs and preferences.  Because of these considerations, we provide different levels of treatment to accommodate each client’s situation.

Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Programs

Our outpatient program helps individuals who have mild or moderate addictions and need to work or attend school during treatment.  However, these individuals must have a supportive home environment.  Otherwise, the chance of relapse increases.

Outpatient treatment typically requires meeting two or three days a week for about four hours each day.  An outpatient program provides an ongoing structure for people who recently completed an inpatient rehab program.

Intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) are less flexible than standard outpatient treatment.  For instance,  Generally, the meetings are held four days a week for about 90 days.  Eventually, as the client progresses, the meetings will taper down to three days per week.

Inpatient/Residential Programs

The terms inpatient and residential are often used interchangeably.  However, some differences between the two programs should be pointed out.  For example, an inpatient program focuses on detox, stabilization of the client, and medical intervention.  Clients reside at the facility 24/7 during treatment.  Typically, inpatient programs last from 30 to 90 days.

On the other hand, residential programs focus more on therapeutic interventions such as behavioral therapies, activities, and skills training.  Most residential programs provide a home-like setting in a calm environment.

Design for Change offers both inpatient and residential programs to ensure the most effective outcomes for our clients.

Partial Hospitalization Programs

Partial hospitalization programs (PHPs) are a type of intensive outpatient treatment (IOP).  However, PHPs are more intensive, requiring more sessions per week.  Comparatively, PHPs meet five days per week whereas IOPs meet four days a week.  Furthermore, PHP sessions last four to eight hours per day, typically in a hospital or clinical setting.
