Substance use disorder affects each person differently for many reasons.  Because of this, they should receive a personalized approach to treatment that addresses their respective needs. At Design for Change, we realize that many clients can’t commit to a long-term residential program.  To meet unique their needs, we offer short-term treatment plans, including 30-day rehab and detox.

Our 30-day rehab and detox programs include evidence-based and holistic therapies for a comprehensive approach.  Detox and rehab are conducted in a secure, comforting environment, overseen by medical professionals and credentialed addiction specialists.

How to Know if 30-Day Rehab is Right for You

It’s often difficult for people to admit that they need addiction treatment.  They either ignore the warning signs or think they can stop using without help.  If you aren’t sure you need professional treatment, here are some warning signs to watch for:

  • Still using despite the physical or mental health consequences.
  • Refusing to quit even after it causes relationship problems.
  • Lack of interest in hobbies or activities you once enjoyed.
  • Driving or operating machinery while using your substance of choice.
  • You have experienced blackouts.
  • You can no longer control how much you use.
  • More of the substance is needed to give you the desired effects.
  • Wanting to quit but are unable to do so.
  • Experience withdrawals and cravings when trying to stop using.

If you notice any of these symptoms, don’t ignore them.  Reach out to Design for Change and let us help you enjoy a healthier, happier lifestyle through drug and alcohol recovery.

How Long Does Detox Last in Short-Term Rehab?

The length of detox varies depending on factors such as your physical health, any underlying mental disorders, and the severity of the addiction.  The drug of choice also plays a role in the length of the detox process.  Generally, people with mild to moderate addiction complete detox in about 7 days.

In some cases, a medically assisted detox can help shorten the process.  People with opioid use disorder often require medications to minimize withdrawal symptoms during detox. Seizures and delirium tremens can be managed with medicines like naltrexone, buprenorphine, and methadone.

Some common withdrawal symptoms that occur during detox are:

  • Restlessness
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Changes in appetite
  • Anxiety, irritability, depression
  • Shakiness
  • Muscle aches and pains

People with severe addictions may experience serious or life-threatening withdrawal symptoms such as:

  • Irregular heart rate
  • High blood pressure
  • Panic attacks
  • Hallucinations
  • Delirium tremens
  • Seizures
  • Stroke

After detox, you will spend time in a series of classes and activities to learn effective relapse prevention techniques and coping mechanisms.

What to Expect In a 30-Day Rehab

Short-term rehab is a proven method for helping people overcome substance use.  Design for Change utilizes a combination of therapies and counseling during and after detox as part of a full continuum of care.   A key goal of 30-day rehab is to help clients gain the skills needed for managing triggers and preventing relapses.

During short-term rehab, you will remain at the facility for the duration of the program.

The first step in 30-day rehab is an evaluation to determine the appropriate treatment approach.  A treatment advisor will assess your overall health status which may involve lab tests and a physical exam.  With this information, a customized program is designed which may include some or all of the following:

The skills you learn in rehab will help you stay on track outside of treatment as you adjust to living a sober lifestyle.  After rehab, you will benefit from the continued support and guidance provided by self-help groups, sober living homes, or other outpatient programs.

Understanding insurance terms and provisions can be confusing.  Each insurer and policy differs in the coverage they provide for rehab and detox.  Also, the facility you choose and the treatment methods they provide can affect your insurance coverage.
