At Design for Change Recovery, we strive to keep people informed about the dangers of addictive drugs and the effective treatment options we offer for any type of addiction, including opioid combinations such as Gray Death.  In light of this, we provide the following information about Gray Death drug to help you avoid the consequences of this dangerous substance.

What Is Gray Death Drug?

The street term, Gray Death, describes a mixture of various synthetic opioids and narcotics.  It may also contain other substances such as amphetamines and cocaine.  The potency of this illicitly produced substance differs from batch to batch, making it one of the most deadly and addictive drugs available today.  Gray Death may be the scariest of all drugs, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Are Opioids Used to Make Gray Death Drug?

No specific recipe exists for producing the drug, so each batch of Gray Death differs.  Drug producers often use different substances and formulations to evade drug laws.  Typically, a batch of Gray Death will include some of the following drugs:

  • Fentanyl – Fentanyl is a popular choice because it is cheaper than most opioids.  Because fentanyl is 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine, it produces a rapid high.  The downside is that combining fentanyl with other drugs can cause overdose with one use.
  • Carfentanil – Carfentanil is an animal tranquilizer.  It is so strong, that just one flake can tranquilize a 2,000-pound animal.  The drug is 10,000 times stronger than morphine and 100 times more potent than fentanyl.  The risk of overdose with carfentanil use increases when combined with other drugs.
  • Heroin – Heroin is present in most formulations of Gray Death because it produces an almost immediate high.  It is a highly addictive, rapid acting opioid morphine derivative that provides pain relief and pleasure.
  • U-47700 – This substance produces the same effects as heroin and can be purchased online as a research chemical.  Known on the streets as “pink”, U-47700 is responsible for many thousands of overdoses.

Other dangerous substances may be present in Gray Death, resulting in addiction, overdose, and death for unsuspecting buyers.

How Is Gray Death Drug Used?

The mixture of drugs known as Gray Death resembles concrete or cement powder.  Or, it may be in the form of rock-like chunks.  People typically use the drug either by injecting, snorting, or smoking the powder.  However,  it may also be taken orally in tablet form.

Short-Term and Long-Term Effects of Combining Opioids

Like other illicit drugs, Gray Death produces a range of short-term and long-term side effects.  Depending on the batch used, the effects may vary in intensity from person to person.  However, most people who use the drug experience some or all of the following:

  • Tiredness
  • Mental fog
  • Confusion
  • Dizziness
  • Poor coordination
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Spasms or convulsions

Gray Death drug is highly addictive and produces withdrawal symptoms that cause a person to seek larger doses.  Over time, continued use of large doses increases the risk of overdose and death.  The signs of Gray Death overdose include:

  • Bluish lips
  • Sweating
  • Irregular pulse
  • Speech difficulties
  • Shallow breathing
  • Grunting noises
  • Languid body

Although Naloxone (Narcan) may reverse a Gray Death drug overdose, five to ten doses may be required to achieve results.
